PROVERBS 16:6
“By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
WORD!
God is a God of mercy and He is a God of truth. When you yield yourself to accept the mercy of God and walk in His truth, you will be cleansed from iniquity.

That is simply what he is saying here.
And when you have the fear of God, you will depart from evil. For the fear of the LORD, that is the beginning of wisdom.
And wisdom will make you to depart from evil, because ‘wisdom is profitable to direct’ : … Christ the Wisdom of God, and the Power of God.
So, “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
Proverbs 20 : 28 says this –
“Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upholden by mercy.”
WISDOM QUOTE
So, if you are a product of mercy, if you have received mercy, you will also know how to be merciful.
So, a king that is operating in mercy, who has received mercy of the LORD, and God has put him in that position through being merciful and walking in the truth of the word of God, walking in the authority of the word of God; his throne will be preserved by mercy. His throne will be upholden by mercy.
So, …
learn to be merciful, as our God is merciful. Because of God's mercies and compassions, we are not consumed.
(So,) learn to remain in the mercy of God, and to be compassionate in all you do.
Psalm 85 from verse 10 says this–
“Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.”

KNOW THIS:
Mercy and truth work together. If you have received the mercy of the LORD and you are walking in the mercy of the LORD and in the truth of the Gospel, you will be walking in the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus; because Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life: and no man cometh to the Father, except by Him.
So, righteousness and peace will follow you!
When you are walking in the mercy of God as a fruit of mercy, and you are abiding in His truth, you will operate in the peace that passeth all human understanding.
It continues in Psalm 85 verse 11. It says –
“Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.”
Verse 12: “Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.”
Verse 13: “Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.”
KNOW THIS:
For God is a God of mercy. In whom actions are weighed. He is a God of mercy and judgment whose judges our actions.
See the advice that Daniel gave to Nebuchadnezzar the king, in Daniel 4 verse 27 –
“Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquility.”
So, Daniel gave Nebuchadnezzar this advice maybe, as a fruit of mercy, … if he shows mercy to the poor, he may receive peace from God.
Simply Put:
He was reminding the king, … that God put you in that authority that you may rule according to the authority of the word of God; that you may acknowledge that it is God who put you there, who made you to be who you are.

WISDOM QUOTE
Who do you think you are?
What is the difference between you and the poor?
The rich and the poor – they meet together. And God is the judge of all.
So, …
learn to walk in the authority of the word of God.
Do not deviate from the truth!
As the Scripture says in Micah 7 : 18 –
“Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy.”
So, when you operate in mercy, you will also receive mercy.
So, learn to walk in mercy, because you are a fruit of mercy! It is through the mercies of God that you are not consumed.
That is why the Scripture is encouraging us, – “By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged: …”
DO THIS:
Receive the truth of the word of God, and bear the fruits of mercy
As you have received mercy from God, bear the fruit of mercy.
He continued in that Micah 7 verse 19 –
“He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”
Verse 20: “Thou wilt perform the truth to Jacob, and the mercy to Abraham, which thou hast sworn unto our fathers from the days of old.”
Who is like unto our God that pardoneth iniquity, and forgiveth our sin?
For “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
For “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” [Ref: John 8:32].
So, learn to walk in the truth, as you have received the mercy of God!
The Scripture tells us in Ephesians 2 verse 4, it says –
“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,”
Verse 5: “Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)”

KNOW THIS:
It is through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that we have been saved, as we receive what He did for us on the cross of Calvary. For He that knew no sin, became sin for us; that we may become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. And as we purpose to walk, in this truth, iniquity shall be purged.
So, …
Learn to remain the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
Learn to remain walking in the truth.
That is why the Scripture tells us in 1st Epistle of Peter 1 : 22. It says–
“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”
So, as a fruit of mercy and truth: remain to sow the seed of mercy and truth.
As you have received the love of God and you have been brought into the beloved, learn to love your neighbours as yourselves!
It continues in that 1st Epistle of Peter chapter 1 verse 23. It says –
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.”
So, …
Remain walking in the word of God.
Remain abiding in the truth.
For “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
Proverbs 8 : 13 says this -
“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.”
When you fear the LORD, …
You will not operate in pride.
You will not be arrogant.
You will not walk outside the way of the LORD. Because anything outside the way of the LORD is an evil way.
You will know how to open your mouth rightly.
In conversation, you will order your conversations aright. You will not speak anyhow.
For “... by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”

I Encourage You: … Purpose to depart from evil.
As Proverbs chapter 14 verse 16 says –
“A wise man feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is confident.”
So, …
Be a wise man! … for wisdom is profitable to direct.
Be purposeful and intentional in departing from evil.
For “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.” [Ref: Proverbs 14:27]
The fear of the LORD opens you up to enjoyment of life; life eternal that Christ has given to us.
“For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
So, learn to depart from all appearances of evil by obeying the truth.
2 Corinthians 7 : 1 says –
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
For “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.”
As you do this, remain blessed in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
