WHEN A WICKED MAN DIES, HIS EXPECTATION SHALL PERISH

PROVERBS 11:7

“When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.”

WHEN A WICKED MAN DIES, HIS EXPECTATION SHALL PERISH

Many people live their lives, thinking that they will never die!  But if they know that “it is appointed to man once to die, after that judgment”; they will live their lives in accordance with the will of their Creator – our God the Father, who sent forth His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life!

So, the wicked man lives his life expecting that he will live long and he does everything to extend his life. He lives his life, desiring to get more riches that will help him to obtain more honour from men, and not from God.

The wicked man lives his life in pleasure, not pleasing God! They are focused on pleasing themselves and getting the praises of men. They think that by doing this, they are enjoying their lives; but truth is : they are living unto themselves and not unto the LORD. And he will find out at the end when he dies, that all his expectations in the world are vain! It is all:  vanity upon vanity!!

That’s why the scripture says: “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish:”

Don’t live a wicked life, not acknowledging the God who created you, and who has given you the opportunity to come into a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus Christ. For those who believe and receive what Jesus Christ did for mankind on the cross of Calvary, they know He has given them “… the right to become children of God!

So CATCH THIS : God desires you to stop the life of wickedness; To stop living your life unto yourself! Know this very well that He who gave you life, one day will call you home. And:

  • All those expectations of enjoying life on this earth,

  • All those expectations of building empires on this earth,

  • All those expectations of having pleasures on this earth …. will come to nothing!

That’s why you need to live your life as unto the LORD! And Let your expectation be from the LORD!!

How will your expectation be from the LORD?

How will your expectation be from the LORD?

  • When you purpose to live as unto the LORD!

  • Accepting to walk in the way, the truth, and life that is in Christ Jesus!!

For … the expectation of the righteous will not be cut off! (Proverbs 23:18)  But “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.”

So,

  • Don’t remain unjust!

  • Come to accept what Jesus Christ did for us on the cross of Calvary! He shed His blood for the remission of our sins.

The scripture tells us expressly in Romans 4:25:

‘that He was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.’

So, Come!’– And be justified through the blood of Jesus Christ. Because that is the only thing that will justify you. The Bible says:

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:” [Ref: Romans 5:1]

Don’t remain in the hopeless state of living your life anyhow, without acknowledging what God has done for you through His Son Jesus Christ. For: ‘If only in this life you have hope, you are of all men most miserable.’[Ref: 1 Corinthians 15:19]

For: ‘the hope of the wicked, of the unjust” … will perish. If you are not living your life with hope in Christ today: your end will be hopeless after your death. For ‘Heaven and earth will pass away, but the word of God abides for ever.’ [Matthew 24:35, Luke 21:33].

So, I encourage you: Purpose to live your life as unto the LORD! For “The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.” [Ref: Proverbs 10:28].

For the scripture tells us in Proverbs 14:32:

“The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: but the righteous hath hope in his death.”

The wicked is he who has forgotten God. God is not in his thought at all!

The end of the wicked is wrath! The wrath of God upon such ones who have refused to acknowledge what God did for them through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

  • Don’t belong to such ones.

  • Purpose to return and repent!

  • And serve the LORD in spirit and in truth!!

  • Purpose to escape from the wrath to come.

For: “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.” It is only the righteous that has hope in his death.

The scripture asked this question in Job 8:11;

“Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?”

Verse 12: “Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.”

Verse 13: “So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:”

The wicked is he who has forgotten God. God is not in his thought at all!

In verse 14 the scriptures says:

“Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.”

For: “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.”

Job 11 verse 20 says:

“But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.”

The hope of the wicked ends at the time of his death. The hope of his further accumulation of wealth, the hope of being joyful on this earth; of making himself joyful on this earth, the hope of living in pleasure on this earth … will all be like the “giving up of the ghost”. It will just perish!

Know it: “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.”

So:

  • Cease from being wicked!

  • Cease from remaining in the place of wickedness!

  • Come to the saving knowledge of the word of God!!

  • Depart from iniquity!!

  • Purpose to walk in the will of the LORD, so that your hope shall not perish, so that your expectation shall not be cut off!!!

For the expectation of the righteous shall never be cut off!

The wicked is he who has forgotten God. God is not in his thought at all!

Isaiah chapter 1 from verse 27 says:

“Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.”

Verse 28: “And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.”

Did you hear that? Don’t forsake the LORD in all your doings, in all your thoughts! Because those that forsake the LORD shall be consumed!!

See the example of The Rich Fool. The Bible says of “this rich man,” that his ground brought forth plentifully”. As he saw his ground bring forth plentifully, he thought within himself, saying :  What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?’ [Ref: Luke 12:17].

So, he was thinking of expansion. He was thinking of advancing himself and his wealth! He wasn’t thinking of God or any other thing. God was not in any or all his thoughts. All he was thinking was about himself. There was no thought of his neighbour at all! He was thinking of how he will please himself and enjoy himself.

And look at what he said in Luke chapter 12:18:

“And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.”

Verse 19: “And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”

So, he was just thinking about himself:

  • How he will please himself,

  • How he will enjoy himself,

  • How he will advance himself,

  • How he will make more riches and bestow them and preserve them for his own enjoyment.

  • To be at ease,

  • To eat, to drink, and be merry.

If you continue in that Luke 12:20:

“But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?”

²¹ “So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

The wicked is not rich towards God!

The Unjust men also are not rich towards God!

That’s why the scripture says: “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.”

That’s exactly what happened to this Rich Fool! His expectation perished! His hope perished, because he was not rich towards God!! He didn’t love God; despite God loving him and giving His only begotten Son Jesus Christ.

Do you love God? That’s my question to you today!

Do you love God? That’s my question to you today!

You need to love God with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your strength! And the only time you will love God is: ‘when you know and appreciate and accept what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross of Calvary.’ For the love He hath for you, He laid down His life for you. And if you love God, you will also know how to love your neighbours as yourselves!

This Rich Fool was only talking about himself:

  • How he will advance his wealth!

  • How he will advance himself!

  • How he will eat, and drink, and be merry!!

There was no thought of God in all the plans!!! This is an opportunity for you. Today; if you do not and did not have thoughts of walking in the will of God concerning your life:

  • Repent!

  • Return!!

  • And accept what Jesus Christ did for you!!!

And as you do that; remain blessed! Because: “When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.”
