“And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.” (Acts 4:18)
Brethren! Can you see that it was the religious authorities who were discouraging Peter and John from spreading the gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ?
Yes! They tried to stop them from advancing the kingdom of God, but, Peter and John were not afraid to tell them the Truth. (Acts 4:19-20)
Acts 4:19 explicitly says -
“But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye."
Know that every authority is from God: But we are not to be afraid of, nor subject ourselves to any authority whose law does not align with God’s Authority.
Therefore, when anyone gives us instructions that are against the word of God, our responsibility is to refuse and not to operate in the carnality of worldly wisdom! Don't allow anything to derail you from the truth!! Believers ought to have the mind of Christ: to do ONLY what the word of God and wisdom from God teaches!!!
