DEVOTE WHOLEHEARTEDLY TO GOD: FOLLOW HIS WAYS

PROVERBS 23:26

“My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.”

This is the heart cry of a father to a son, this is the heart cry of God to all His creation, to all those He made in His image and likeness.

He said: “My son, give me thine heart, … … .”

Because, as the Scripture says in Proverbs chapter 23 verses 15:

“My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.”

DEVOTE WHOLEHEARTEDLY TO GOD: FOLLOW HIS WAYS

So, it gives joy and rejoicing to the heart of your earthly parents and Heavenly Father, if your heart is wise.

QUESTION:

And how will your heart be wise?

ANSWER:

Your heart can only be wise, if you surrender your heart to God completely by purposing to do His will.

The Scripture says in Romans chapter 10 verse 9:

“that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

Verse 10: “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Verse 11: “For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth in Him shall not be shamed.”

For your heart to be wise, you need to receive what Jesus Christ did for you on the Cross of Calvary. For He shed His blood for the remission of your sins.

So, if you believe in your heart that Jesus died for you on the Cross of Calvary, and God raised Him from death; you shall be saved.

So, you need to know how to completely surrender your heart to the Lord! Devote wholeheartedly to god: follow his ways.

And as you surrender your heart to the Lord, maintain your heart in righteousness.

For as you have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, continue to live soberly, righteously, and Godly. That’s the only way you will continue to keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it comes all the issues of life.

So …

  • Learn to give your heart to God, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

  • (And) let your eyes observe His ways: Jesus, is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no man cometh to the Father except by Him. [Ref.: John 14:6]

SO:

  • We must purposefully surrender our hearts to the Lord, and we must teach ourselves, and incline our ears unto righteousness.

  • We must be people who are ready to obey the word of God, and do the word of God.

Learn to give your heart to God, through His Son, Jesus Christ.

See what God told the people of Israel in Deuteronomy chapter 6 verse 4. It said:

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

Verse 5: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”

Verse 6: “And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:”

So  …

  • Learn to keep your heart!

  • Learn to give your heart to the Lord!

  • (And) learn to meditate upon the word of the God, and purposefully teach it to your own children!!

    • Talk about the word of God wherever you are: in the way, even when you are lying down; when you are rising up.

  • Learn to meditate daily upon the word of God!!!

HEAR THIS:

  • We must be prepared to love our heavenly Father more than any other thing!

    • When it comes to, ‘whom should we obey?’ - We should learn to obey God, our Heavenly Father more than our earthly Father.

  • We should keep our hearts!!

    • We should give our hearts to the Lord and we should keep our heart, and let our eyes observe the way of the Lord; for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man cometh to the Father, except by Him.

So, learn to give your heart totally to the Lord, and learn to keep your heart with all diligence!

The Scripture says in Matthew chapter 10 verse 37, that:

“He that loveth his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”

Verse 38: “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”

 So, …

  • We must learn to give our heart to the Lord.

  • We should not allow anything to take away our hearts from the Lord.

  • We should be people that know how to work out our salvation, with fear and trembling.

The Scripture says:

  • ‘We should learn to present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto the Lord, which is our reasonable service.’ (Ref.: Roman 12:1)

  • We should not conform to the world! ‘We should not conform to the patterns of this world: but rather, we should continue to renew our minds, so that we will be in a position to know what is good and acceptable, and perfect will of God for our lives.’ [Ref.: Romans 12:2]

So, “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways”.

God is calling you today! Learn to give your heart completely to the Lord, even as our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ surrendered Himself. He came to do the will of the Lord, and whatever God commanded, that was what He kept and did.

So, we should learn His ways, and walk in His ways!

we should learn His ways, and walk in His ways!

The Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 14:

“For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:”

Verse 15: “And that He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again.”

HEAR THESE:

  • We should learn to live for Christ, to live for God; for to live is Christ, to die is gain.

  • We should not allow anything to take us away from the truth.

See the example of the Macedonian Christian, the Macedonian church: “they gave themselves wholly to the Lord; they gave their hearts to the Lord, before even giving their resource.

Give your heart to the Lord!

When you give your heart to the Lord, there is nothing you will withhold from the Lord; because you will love the Lord with all your heart, with all your might, with all your strength.

You will do the will of God.

My prayers for you today is that:

The Lord will grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man.

Ephesians chapter 3 verse 16, that’s where I just quoted,

“That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;”

Verse 17: “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,”

Verse 18: “May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breath, and length, and depth, and height;”

Verse 19:  “And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”

So, that’s the Word of Wisdom for you today, it said: My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.”

HEAR THESE:

  • Let your eyes observe the ways of the Lord.

  • Let your eyes be single; for if your eyes be single, your whole body shall be full of light.

  • Seek you first the kingdom of God.

  • Continue to look unto Jesus as the Author and Finisher of your faith.

  • Refuse that anything will distract you from the truth.

  • Remain focused in the truth.

That’s what it’s saying here: “... … let thine eyes observe my ways.”

Give your heart to the Lord!

DO THESE:

  • Observe the ways of the Lord.

  • Abide in His word, abide in His truth.

  • Refuse that anything will take you away from the truth.

That Proverbs chapter 4 verse 25 says:

“Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.”

Verse 26: “Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.”

Verse 27: “Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.”

CATCH  THIS:

  • Be focused; stand in the authority of the word of God.

  • Be established in the truth.

  • Refuse that anything will take you away from the truth.

  • Remain steadfast in the faith.

  • Walk in the Spirit, and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

The Psalmist says in Psalm 119 verse 1 It says:

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.

KNOW  THIS:

You will be blessed, when you walk in the way of the Lord.

He continued in that verse 2, he said:

Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek Him with their  whole heart.”

So, learn to continue to seek the Lord with the whole heart!

  • And as you hear, purpose to do what He has said.

  • As you hear and do and follow His ways, you will depart from iniquity.

That’s what He is concluding in that Psalm 119 verse 3. It says:

“They also do no iniquity: they walk in His ways.”

So, learn to walk in the ways of the Lord, so that you will not walk in iniquity!

So, the Word of Wisdom today is coming across your way:

My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.”

And as you do this, remain blessed. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
